
ADM Cross Country Teams Set Pace at Steve McDermott Meet
The ADM Cross Country teams delivered impressive performances at the Steve McDermott Cross Country Meet held at Maytag Park in Newton on Tuesday, securing top two finishes in both the girls' and boys' races. The Tigers showcased their strength against a competitive field, racing against teams from Newton, Ames, Atlantic, Dallas Center-Grimes, Grinnell, and Marshalltown.
ADM Girls Capture First Place
The ADM girls' team put on a dominant display, scoring just 29 points to claim first place. Freshman standout Elliotte Von Roden led the way for the Tigers, finishing second overall with a time of 20:40 in the 5K (3.1 miles). Hot on her heels was sophomore Allie Eggleston, who took third place with a time of 21:14.
The Tigers' depth was evident with senior Ella Goodrich finishing sixth in 21:50, followed closely by sophomore Addy Bjork in seventh with a time of 21:55. Senior Evelyn Horgen (22:56), senior Mackealin Sutton (22:58), and sophomore Cora Shirley-Brown (23:01) secured 11th, 12th, and 13th places respectively, rounding out a stellar team performance.
ADM Boys Take Second Place
On the boys' side, ADM secured a strong second-place finish with 63 points, just behind Marshalltown. Senior Torin Timmerman paced the Tigers, finishing sixth overall with a time of 17:30. Sophomore Max Marple followed with a 10th place finish, clocking in at 17:56, and freshman Dain Holdmeyer added a 12th place finish in 17:58.
Junior Nick Subbert crossed the line in 14th place at 18:08, while junior Ty Landphair secured 21st with a time of 18:20. Senior Shay Holdmeyer also posted a solid result, finishing 29th in 18:37, adding depth to the Tigers' second-place effort.
Looking Ahead
After a successful outing in Newton, both ADM teams will look to carry their momentum into next week. The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday, October 1st, when they travel to Williamsburg for their next meet.
