National Honor Society

The ADM Chapter of the National Honor Society recognizes students who embody the high ideals of ADM and the pillars of NHS membership; scholarship, character, leadership, and service.  Students eligible for membership are encouraged to apply.  Once members, the focus of the local chapter is to continue to grow in leadership and service by helping local organizations and charities.

ADM 10th-12th grade students with a 3.8 GPA or higher have met the first pillar of NHS membership (scholarship).  Students meeting the scholarship requirement will be invited to apply for membership in late September - early October.  The application and selection process includes the following:

  • NHS Application Worksheet: Outlining student involvement, leadership, and service work. (Character, Leadership & Service Pillars)

  • NHS Essay: Applicants have the opportunity to explain how they embody humble, hungry, and smart. (Character & Leadership Pillars)

  • Teacher Recommendation: applicants select a teacher to write a recommendation that will highlight their character and leadership characteristics in the classroom and community.  Teachers will also select from the body of applicants students that embody the characteristics of membership. (Scholarship, Character & Leadership Pillars)

  • NHS Interview: Select applicants will have the opportunity to interview highlighting how they embody the pillars of membership and HHS.

  • Membership Selection: Once all of the information regarding applicants is gathered, as listed above, a selection committee of 5 teachers appointed by the building principal will review and select new members.  The building principal and advisor serve in non-voting, supervisory roles.
